Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh arrived in Mumbai. Singh was declared as ‘absconding’ by a Mumbai court. He is facing extortion charges in several cases in Maharashtra. He reached the office of Crime Branch Unit 11 in Kandivali to join the investigation in the alleged extortion case.
Former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh on Monday informed the Supreme Court that he is in India and not absconding.
“I am very much in the country but hiding as I face threat to my life,” Param Bir Singh informed the apex court via his lawyer.
“I am ready to appear before the CBI within 48 hours. If I am wrong, then take me to the task,” the former Mumbai police chief told the SC.
The SC asked him to join the probe and offered protection against his arrest.
