Former India skipper and legendary wicket- keeper batsman the 38- year-old Mahendra Singh Dhoni has not been included in the Indian T20 squad to take on South Africa next month as announced by the BCCI. Rishabh Pant is the only wicket-keeper . It seems clear now that the selectors want now want to groom Pant for the future.
It may be re- called that Dhoni sat out India’s ongoing tour of the West Indies as he was set to discharge his responsibilities as an honorary colonel in the army with patrol duties in conflict-torn Jammu and Kashmir.
India play South Africa in Dharamsala (Sept. 15), Mohali (Sept. 18) and Bengaluru (Sept. 22).
