A confident Devendra Fadnavis took charge as Maharashtra Chief Minister even as the Supreme Court was hearing the NCP- Sena – Congress plea.
While the three have requested for immediate floor test, and asked Fadnavis to prove majority, the BJP has opposed the immediate floor test, according to reports.
The Supreme Court hence will pass order on floor test tomorrow at 10: 30 am. It has also reserved the order for tomorrow the petition of the NCP- Sena- Congress .
Mukul Rohatgi representing Maharashtra BJP told Supreme Court that it cannot direct Maharashtra Governor to initiate the Floor Test within 24 hours. Floor Test should not be tomorrow. Reasonable time for it is 7 days.
He further goes on to say : ” Governor in this case has given 14 days for floor test, reasonable time can be 7 days. The most important thing right now is the procedure of Appointment of Protem Speaker, Oath, Election of Speaker, and Agenda”.
Meanwhile , “If BJP has majority, why is it worried? I am happy to lose on floor of Maha Assembly,” Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing the Congress and NCP to SC, seeking immediate floor test.
Singhvi further states : “When both the groups are open for Floor Test, why should there be a delay? Does a single NCP MLA here say we will join the BJP alliance? Is there a single covering letter saying this. This was the fraud committed on democracy”.
