Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kapil Mishra, accused of instigating riots in northeast Delhi, has been provided 24X7 security.
After assessing threat perception to his life, the saffron party leader has been provided with ‘Y’ category security — which entitles him to have six security personnel round-the-clock to guard him in and outside the city.
The Opposition has sought FIRs against Kapil Mishra and other BJP leaders for hate-mongering during the Delhi election campaign and ahead of the communal violence in northeast Delhi.
Sources said after receiving threats on social media, Kapil Mishra had raised concern over his safety.
Reacting to the development, Congress leader Jaiveer Shergill said instead of arresting Mishra, the BJP is protecting and promoting hate mongers.
“Instead of arresting, BJP Govt gives Y security cover to Kapil Mishra-crowning, protecting & promoting hate mongers is BJP fixed strategy to spread wings of their politics of hate & violence; Man who should be in Jail is now protected jewel of BJP & that too on tax payers money!!” Shergill said on Twitter.
