Omar Abdullah , former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference Vice- president has reacted to senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad’s resignation from the Congress party .

In tweet Omar wrote, Long rumoured to be in the offing but a body blow to the Congress none the less. Perhaps the senior most leader to quit the party in recent times, his resignation letter makes for very painful reading. It’s sad, and quite scary, to see the grand old party of India implode.

Omar reacted after earlier, in dramatic announcement , Ghulam Nabi Azad said he has resigned from all party positions of the Congress and slammed Rahul Gandhi in his scathing letter to Sonia Gandhi.

“Unfortunately after entry of Shri Rahul Gandhi into politics and particularly after January 2013 when he was appointed as VP by you, the entire consultative mechanism which existed earlier was demolished by him,” wrote GN Azad in his resignation letter .

“Worse still the ‘remote control model’ that demolished institutional integrity of UPA govt now got applied to INC. While, you’re just a nominal figure heard all the important decisions were being taken by Shri Rahul Gandhi or rather worse his security guards & PAs,” said Azad in his no – holds barred attack.

Azad said G- 23 leaders views were not taken in a constructive way by the party , They were insulted , attacked and sidelined .

Meanwhile speaking to ANI, National Conference president and Former J&K Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah had this to say on Ghulam Nabi Azad’s resignation, Must not be getting respect, love showered upon him earlier. Congress was taken aback when 32 leaders wrote letter. But it’s happened before, Congress came back stronger. Country needs strong opposition.
