Sunrisers Hyderabad once proved why they are the best side while defending small totals in IPL 2018. In yet another match Kane Williamson and his men came out on top. This time they beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 5 runs, virtually ensuring a play- offs spot and virtually ending RCB’s hopes of play- offs berth.
Dismissed for a modest total of 146 thanks largely due to skipper Kane Williamson’s 56 and Shakib AL Hasan’s important 35 , SRH bounced back in the match with their superb bowling effort yet again. Thus denying RCB any hopes of making further progress in the tournament.
At one stage RCB looked on course to win, skipper Virat Kohli, , fine personal form despite the team flop show indicated that he could take the match away when he was at the crease. 39 off 30 balls , 5 fours and 1 six, Kohli looked in command. But soon after he fell to Shakib Al Hasan , RCB batting crumbled like pack of cards. Rashid Khan bagged the prize wicket of A B De Villiers ( 5) and Moeen Ali ( 10 ) fell to Siddharth Kaul. RCB hopes were dashed.
Mandeep Singh (21 not out) and Colin de Grandhomme (33) kept RCB in the hunt with a 57-run sixth wicket stand but SRH bowlers held their nerves and denied fours and sixes. RCB ended up with 141 for six. Suffering a 5 run loss
