English batsman Jason Roy coming in place of Colin Munro, lived up to his billing as he smashed blistering unbeaten 91 off 53 ball studded with six sixes and six fours to help Delhi beat Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets. He was deservedly named the Man of the Match.
In a thriller, Roy hit seamer Mustafizur Rahman over the off-side for a single to take Delhi to victory off the last ball of the match after the visitors required 11 runs for victory off the final over. Roy was well supported by Rishabh Pant, who hit a blazing 47 of 25 balls and Shreyas Iyer who stayed unbeaten on 27.
Delhi chased down a stiff target of 195 after Mumbai finished at 194 for 7 n their 20 overs. It was Delhi’s first win after two losses in IPL 2018 , while Mumbai suffered their third consecutive loss.
Earlier, Put into bat by Delhi skipper Gautam Gambhir, Mumbai Indians batting clicked with Suryakumar Yadav leading the way with a whirlwind fifty. Yadav (53 off 32 balls) and Lewis (48 off 28 balls) posted century run stand, and later on Ishan Kishan (44 off 23 balls) continued the tempo . Mumbai Looked set for big 200 plus total.
But Mumbai lost their way with flurry of wickets . Rohit Sharma (18), Krunal Pandya (11) and Hardik Pandya (2) flopped , as Delhi bowlers made a strong comeback in the middle and death overs with Trent Boult and Dan Christian doing the damage.
