India continued their unbeaten run in the Asia Cup 2025 as they held their nerve to edge out gritty Sri lanka in a Super 4 encounter which ended with a Super Over deciding the winner.
Sri Lanka Skipper Charith Asalanka won the toss and opted to bowl first . And India got off to a shaky start with Shubman Gill out for 4 caught and bolwed brillintly by Theekshana. India Skipper Suryakumar Yadav’s poor run continued as he was out for scratchy 12. In his two two previous matches SKY had scores of 0 and 5. A worrying sign for India ahead of the final against against Pakistan on September 28 . SKY had scored just 99 runs in his last 10 innings. Highest of 47.
Sanju Samson had some runs under his belt 39 ( 23 balls, 1 four, 3 sixes). Tilak Varma remained not out won well made 49 ( 34 balls, 4 fours, 1 six), Hardik pandya was out for 2. Axar patel was not out 21. India scoring an impressive 202/5 in their 20 overs.
The star for India in batting was Abhishek Sharma yet again who scored another blazing innings of 61 ( 31 balls, 8 fours, 2 six) . His form looks good andf India will be hoping Abhishek fires in the final too. That would end a fantastic campaign for Hima s well as Team India .

In reply Sri Lanka tested the Indian bowling to the full for the first time in the tournament . They were unfazed by the India total. Pathum Nissanka , the opener was ourtstanding in his blazing ton of 107 ( 58 balls, 7 fours, 6 sixes). Kusal Mendis was out for 0. Kusal Perera played an attacking 58 ( 32 balls , 8 fours, 1 six) . Skipper Charith Asalanka chipped in with 22 , Kamindu Mendis was out for 3. Sri Lanka tried hard but vcould not get over the line . Dasun Shanaka not out 22 , Janith Liyanage not out 2 . As Sri Lanka too like India scored 202/5 in their 20 overs.
Needing 12 off the last over from Harshit Rana and three off the final ball, Dasun Shanaka (22 not out off 11 balls) could manage only two as the match went into Super Over.
The Super Over belonged to Arshdeep, who gave only two runs and got two wickets in five balls. The target of three runs was achieved in a single delivery by skipper Suryakumar Yadav.
