India continued it’s dominance over Pakistan as they beat them in the Asia Cup 2025 final by 5 wickets . India had outcleassed Pakistan twice in the legaue games too in the tournament.
India Skipper Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and opted to bowl first . Pakistan showed intent at the start and threated to post big total as their openers – Fakhar Zaman and Sahibzada Farhan set the momentum for the others with a 84 run stand for the wicket in just 9.4 overs. The stage was set Farhan scored a fine 57 ( 38 balls, 5 fours 3 sixes), Zaman complimented him well with a 46 ( 35 balls , 2 fours 2 sixes).
Little did anyone thought what would happen soon after. Pakistan batting collapsed spectacularly much to the dismay of large Pakistan supporters. From well placed 113/2 in 12. 3 overs. Pakistan batting fell spart in abject manner – Saim Ayub ( 14), Mohammad Haris ( 0), Skipper Salman Agha ( 8) out to horrendous shot. The rest simply followed – Hussain Talat ( 1), Mohammad Nawaz ( 6) , Shaheen Afridi ( 0). The collaspe was simply inexplicable after a fine start. Faheem Ashraf ( 0), Haris Rauf ( 6) , Abrar Ahmead not out 1. Pakistan bundled out for 146/10 in 19. 1 overs. Pakistan lost 9 wickets for 33 runs. This collpase sealed the match for them at the end .
Indian bowlers after intial struggle hit back hard . Shivam Dube 0/23 ( 3 overs), Jasprit Bumrah 2/25 ( 3.1 overs), Varun Chakaravarthy 2/30 ( 4 overs), Axar Patel 2/26 ( 4 overs), Kuldeep Yadav was the star wrecker-in chief with 4/30 ( 4 overs), Tilak Varma 0/9 ( 1 over)
Chasing 147 to win. India were rocked early as they lost in- form destructive opener Abhishek Sharma out cheaply for 5 . Shubman Gill too did not last long ouyt for 12. There was jitter as out- off form Skipper Suryakumar Yadav fell yet again early for 1. SKY the batsman had a tournament to forget. Sanju Samason put India back with a quick 24 before he too was dismissed . Shivam Dube ( extar responsibility in absence of Hardik Pandya) chipped in with valuable 33 ( 22 balls , 2 fours , 2 sixes) .
But anchoring the Indian innings and ensured the win was dasher Tilak Varma who scored an unbeaten match- winning 69 ( 53 balls, 3 fours, 4 sixes). It was Varma’s innings the made the diffrence at the end. Rinku Singh ( in place of injured Hardik Pandya) remained not out 4 as India romped home by five wicket scoring 150/5 in 19.4 overs. With two balls left the chase was a tense and tight . Pakistan were left to rue their missed opportunity to put a good target after a flying start.
Pakistan Bowling : Shaheen Afridi 1/20 ( 4 overs) , Faheem Ashraf 3/29 ( 4 overs) , Mohammad Nawaz 0/6 ( 1 over), Haris Rauf 0/50 ( 3. 4 overs) was expensive. Abrar Ahmed 1/29 ( 4 overs), Saim Ayub 0/16 ( 3 overs)
There was more drama as Team India refused to accpet trophy from ACC Chief Mohsin Naqvi ( Pakistan PCB Chief). Team India were hence denied the trophy and medals as Naqvi dramatically left the stadium in Dubai with them causing an unprecedented furore .
