After being outplayed by India in the first T20 thanks to a super ton by K L Rahul and five wicket haul by Kuldeep Yadav, England powered by opener Alex Hales bounced back to level the T20 series at 1-1- against India by five wickets .
Needing 11 runs in the last over, Hales (58 not out) did the task with two balls remaining. He slammed Bhuvneshwar Kumar to a six on the first ball of the 20th over and then hit a boundary to make sure England reach target with ease.
Earlier, India struggled to reach a competitive target and could post only a odest 148 / 5. Skipper Virat Kohli top-scored with 47. But it was the cameo by Mahendra Singh Dhoni towards the end that helped India a fighting total , Dhoni scored 32 off 24 balls while Hardik Pandya chipped in with 12 off 10 .
The total was not big enough at the end to challenge the English batting line- up. England came up with a good – all- round display in the second T20
