Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone who was last seen in Blockbuster Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat ( 2018) , and who has openly spoken about her battle with depression at the peak of her career, is happy that a conversation on mental health has opened up but agrees there is still a long way to go in terms of creating more awareness.
The 33-year old , who was in the capital for the first edition of Live, Love, Laugh – a lecture series with Deepika, opened about her depression in 2015.
“I think the conversation has opened up (on mental health). I don’t think there’s as much stigma as there used to be four years ago. But we certainly have a long way to go in terms of creating more awareness. I think that’s where we need to keep the conversation alive,” Deepika told reporters , reported IANS.
On the work front Deepika will be soon seen in Meghna Gulzar’s Chaapak , film on acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal . Vikrant Massey too has pivotal role in this film.
Then there is Kabir Khan’s 83 , a tribute to the 1983 World Cup winning team Indian cricket team. The team skippered by iconic all- rounder Kapil Dev stunned the world by Winning The World Cup beating the West Indies in the final at Lord’s 25 by 43 runs .
It will be Deepika’s first film after marriage with husband Ranveer Singh who plays Kapil Dev in the film. Deepika will be seen in the role of Romi Dev.
