Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has informed the Centre that the state was fully prepared to deal with the very severe cyclonic storm ”Yaas”, which is likely to make landfall near Balasore on May 26.
At a time when we are fighting with COVID19, we have yet another challenge in the form of #CycloneYaas. The priority is to save every life, I request all those in cyclone prone areas to move to shelter homes & cooperate with administration, said Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik
The Odisha government has already evacuated about one thousand people from the low-lying areas and vulnerable storm-surge pockets in four districts of Balasore,Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur.
Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) PK Jena said the evacuation process is expected to be comnpleted by Tuesday afternoon. Official sources said that nearly 1.5 lakh population will be moved to safer places from the cyclone prone Odisha areas.
