#CWC23 : Run Chase Master Virat Kohli Powers India To 4-Wicket Win Over New Zealand In A Tight Contest

India continued it’s winning run in the CWC23 as it beat New Zealand in a tight contest in Dharamsala by 4 wickets. IN a picturesque background Rohit Sharma , India won the toss and opted to bowl first

The Kiwis were jolted early losing in- from opener Devon Conway ( 0) and his partner Will Young departing for 17. There was pressure on the Kiwis. But the talented Rachin Ravindra 75 ( 87 balls , 6 fours , 1 six) and consistent Daryl Mitchell who scored a superb ton 130( 127 balls , 9 fours, 5 sixes) put on 159 runs for the third wicket to put the Kiwis on track for a possible 300 plus total

The India bowling figures were : Mohammed Shami 5/ 54 ( 10 overs), Jasprit Bumrah 1/ 45 ( 10 overs), Mohammed Siraj 1/ 45 ( 10 overs), Kuldeep Yadav was expensive 2/ 73 ( 10 overs), Ravindra Jadeja 0/ 40 ( 10 overs)

India got off to a solid start with Skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill putting 71 for the first wicket when Rohit fell for 40 ( 46 balls 4 fours, 4 sixes), Shubman Gill scored 26. But it was Virat Kohli in superb form yet again who guided India home . missed out on a record-equalling 49th ODI century as he mistimed the lofted shot and was caught at deep midwicket off Matt Henry for 95 in the 48th over.

Ravindra Jadeja steered India with a solid knock of 39 as he pulled Henry for a boundary through square leg as the hosts won with two overs to spare. India middle order was tested though with K L Rahul out for 27 and Suryakumar Yadav unfortunately in mix-up with Virat Kohli run-out for 2 . But Ravindra Jadeja ensured no further hiccups. India reaching 274 / 6 in 48 overs.

For Kiwis Trent Boult was on the expensive side 1/ 60 ( 10 overs), Matt Henry 1/ 55 ( 9 overs), Mitchell Santner1/37 ( 10 overs), Lockie Ferguson 2/ 63 ( 10 overs), Rachin Ravindra 0/46 (9 overs), Glenn Phillips 0/ 12 ( 2 overs)
