Chief Congress spokesperson and now newly elected Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala, held a press conference on the entry of the Delhi police into the party HQ.

“In an act of absolute goondaism perpetuated by the Delhi police at the stance of the government, they entered the Congress office and beat up workers. This is criminal trespass. Their goondaism has reached its zenith. This won’t be tolerated and will be accounted for.

“We demand an FIR be lodged. They will be suspended and disciplinary inquiry will be initiated. Today, all Congress leaders will hold press conferences.

“Tomorrow Congress will gherao all Raj Bhavans across India. Protests will also be held at all district levels day after tomorrow,” Surjewala announced.

A number of protesting Congress leaders and supporters were rounded up by the police and bundled into DTC and Delhi Police buses at multiple locations between the ED office and the 24 Akbar Road headquarters of the party.

“It’s unfortunate that we are being stopped from going to go to our own party headquarters. My official residential premises have been sealed by placing barricades. This indicates at political revenge,” Congress MP Deepender S Hooda said.

Congress leaders and workers on Wednesday staged protests outside the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office and the party headquarters here and were detained by police. Several Youth Congress and Mahila Congress workers protesting outside the Congress office on Akbar Road were roughed up by the police and forcibly taken away, a party worker said.

Delhi Pradesh Congress workers also staged a protest outside the heavily barricaded ED office against party leader Rahul Gandhi’s questioning by the probe agency in the National Herald money laundering case.

The protests were taken out as Gandhi reached the ED office for questioning for the third consecutive day.
