Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again accused the opposition of speaking Pakistan’s language on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill and asserted that the legislation will be written in “golden letters” in history.
Addressing BJP parliamentary party meeting, Modi likened the bill to the government’s decision to nullify Article 370 and said it will provide permanent relief to minorities of neighbouring countries who arrived in India fleeing religious persecution.
Home Minister Amit Shah will table the Citizenship Bill in Rajya Sabha today for clearance after the Bill was passed by Lok Sabha. It remains to be seen how the NDA mamanges to get the numbers on their sides. Further, it will also see which ally toes their line. The Likes of SAD, JD( U) have expressed their reservations . The Shiv Sena voted for the bill in Lok Sabha but might do the opposite in Rajya Sabha.
