Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane is on a two- day visit to Ladakh to take a first hand review the ongoing security situation there. He will be briefed by senior field commanders on the ground situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), reports ANI.
The visit comes in the wake of China’s fresh attempts to change status quo along the southern bank of Pangong lake, official sources said.
The Army Chief will also review the operational preparedness of the troops who are locked in a stand off with Chinese troops for over three months now.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Anurag Srivastava had said the Chinese People’s Liberation Army(PLA) was engaged in “provocative action” again a day earlier when the ground commanders of the two sides were holding talks to ease the situation.
Following the attempts, the Indian Army strengthened its presence in at least three strategic heights in the southern bank of Pangong lake.
