Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray described as dangerous for democracy the Election Commission’s decision to recognise the Eknath Shinde faction as real Shiv Sena.
They (Eknath Shinde faction) have stolen our bow and arrow symbol, but people will avenge this theft, Thackeray told reporters at his Matoshree bungalow in suburban Bandra, Mumbai.
Claiming that there was no democracy left in India, Thackeray said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should declare that dictatorship has started in the country.
Uddhav quoted by ANI said, We will surely go to the Supreme Court against this EC order. We are sure that the SC will set aside this order and that the 16 MLAs will be disqualified by SC. I had said that ECI shouldn’t give decision before SC verdict. If party’s existence is decided based on number of MLAs & MPs, any capitalist can purchase MLA, MP & become CM.
The EC decision is very dangerous for democracy, he added. The EC decision indicates that the Mumbai municipal corporation elections will be declared soon, he said.
Reacting to EC move, We don’t need to worry. Public is with us. We’ll go with a new symbol and raise this Shiv Sena once again in the court of public: Sanjay Raut, Uddhav Thackeray faction told ANI
50 MLAs, 13 MPs, hundreds of public reps & lakhs of workers are thieves. What are you? Do self-introspection as to why has this day come? You sold out the ideology of Balasaheb Thackeray in 2019: Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde on his faction being reportedly called ‘thieves’ by Uddhav Thackeray told ANI
