Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi resumed his Bharat Jodo Yatra from Jammu and Kashmir’s Banihal on Friday en route to the Valley.
Enthusiastic Congress workers and supporters carrying the tricolour turned up in large numbers to receive the Gandhi family scion.
People are very excited and have come to welcome Rahul Gandhi despite the zero-degree weather. Bharat Jodo will resume from Banihal and go to Anantnag today. All security arrangements have been made. Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah also joined Gandhi at Banihal.

Later quoted by ANI , Omar said : It’s been 8 yrs since there have been polls in J&K. The last Assembly polls were in 2014. This is the first time that there has been such a long gap between polls here. It wasn’t such a situation even during the worst days of militancy in J&K.
