Australia kept their nerves in the end, while India lost heap of wickets as the both sides played out a close first T20 match of the series at the Gabba, Brisbane.
Earlier Put into bat by Virat Kohli , Australia scored 158 for 4 in their 17 overs . Glenn Maxwell smacked 46 runs off 24 balls . captain Aaron Finch (27) cameo by Marcus Stoinis (33 not out off 19 balls) helped Australia post a fighting total. Krunal Pandya was very expensive and went for 0-55 in his four overs .
A spell of heavy rain cut the game short to 17-overs a side after which the target for India was revised to 174 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis method.
In reply India got off to a poor start with Rohit Sharma falling for 7, Skipper Virat Kohli fell for 4 and K L Rahul for 13. But Shikhar Dhawan 76 off 42 balls and counter punching 50 plus stand by Rishabh Pant ( 20) and Dinesh Karthik ( 30) saw India reach tantalisingly close before failing to get over the line .
Adam Zampa was superb with two for 22 in four overs and Marcus Stoinis put in an all- round show , two wickets in the final over. India finished at 169/ 7 in 17 overs to lose by 4 runs by D/L method
