The BCCI have announced a strong 15-member Indian Test squad for the WTC final from June 7-11 at The Oval, London against Australia . Rohit Sharma will lead the team . There is no vice- captain for the side . Having lost the final to New Zealand last time , Team India will be hoping to make amends this time around .

The team has the regulars who pick themselves- Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, Shubman Gill, K L Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja . The spin will be in hands of Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja . K S Bharat will be the wicket-keeper . The pace attack will be manned by – Mohammed Siraj , Mohammed Shami , Umesh Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat, Shardul Thakur.
But the big news is the return of 34 year-old Ajinkya Rahane . Rahane has been in sensational form in the on- going TataIPL2023 and his intent and aggression has wowed all.
Interestingly , Rahane had lost is place in the Indian team in all formats despite leading team India to a series win Australia 2-1 after the 36 – all-out debacle at Adelaide in 2021-22. A series were several big names were out with injury and Virat Kohli taking paternity leave.
And just before TataIPL2023 the BCCI also denied him central contract . Many thought his India career was as good as over. With TataIPL2023 Rahane has silenced his critics for good .
