Desperately needed to win to keep the T20I series alive, India finally came out with a strong all-round show to beat West Indies by seven wickets.
After opting to bat, West Indies enjoyed their best start of the series with Brandon King and Kyle Mayers (25 off 20) sharing a 55-run stand.
West Indies eventually posted 159/ 5 in their allotted 20 overs , Brandon King top scored with a run-a-ball 42 while skipper Rovman Powell (40 not out off 19) provided the final flourish. Nicholas Pooran looked dangerous in his quick (20 off 12) This was after Kuldeep Yadav (3/28) stemmed the flow of runs in the middle overs.
Indian batting which had come under fire for poor totals finally got some momentum back , Vice-Captain Suryakumar Yadav was in his full elements as he smashed a power packed innings of 83 off mere 44balls . Innings studded with 10 boundaries and four sixes .
Debutant Yashavi Jaiswal (1) and Shubman Gill (6) got out cheaply in run chase but then SKY took over and powered India home. Tilak Varma (49 not out off 37) was happy to play second fiddle to his senior Mumbai Indians teammate in their 87-run stand. Tilak missed his second straight fifty in his debut series as skipper Hardik Pandya (20 not out off 15) hit the winning six. India romping home in 17. 5 overs reaching 164/3 .
