Former Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Union minister Yashwant Sinha has joined the Trinamool Congress, ahead of West Bengal Assembly elections. Addressing a press conference soon after joining , Sinha said pointed out the reason : “The tipping point was the attack on Mamata Ji in Nandigram. It was the moment of decision to join TMC and support Mamata Ji.
Sinha took a dig at the BJP and its relationship with its allies saying , BJP during Atal Ji’s time believed in consensus but today’s government believes in crushing & conquering. Akalis, BJD have left the BJP. Today, who is standing with BJP?

On the current scenario Sinha lamented that the country is facing an unprecedented situation today. The strength of democracy lies in the strength of the institutions of democracy. All these institutions including the judiciary have become weak now.
Sinha was the Finance Minister in Prime Minister Chandrashekhar Government from November 1990 to June 1991 . And in the Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee Led NDA government named Finance minister in March 1998. Later Minister for External Affairs on 1 July 2002. Sinha quit The BJP in 2018.
