Punjab Kings dished out a disciplined bowling performance to notch up a five-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in a low-scoring IPL match at the Sharjah International Cricket Stadium .
SRH with this loss were knocked out of the race of the play-offs.
Opting to field, Sunrisers restricted Punjab Kings to a modest 125 for 7 with West Indies seamer Jason Holder (3/19) emerging as the most successful bowler with his three wickets.
He was ably supported by fellow pacers Sandeep Sharma (1/20), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1/34), spin duo of Rashid Khan (1/17) and Abdul Samad (1/9).
In reply, Sunrisers lost half of their side in 13 overs, slipping to 60 for five. Jason Holder tried his best and scored a 29-ball 47 not out but it was not enough in the end. As SRH finished at 12/7 in their 20 overs.
SRH got off to a poor start too. Out of form Davis Warner fell for 2. Skipper Kane Williamson out for 1. Manish Pandey 13, Kedar Jadhav 12, Wriddhiman Saha ( 37)
For Punjab the bowling was top class with Mohammed Shami 2/14 ( 4 overs) , Ravi Bishnoi 3/24 ( 4 overs), Arshdeep Singh 1/22 ( 4 overs)
For Punjab, South African batsman Aiden Markram (27) was the top-scorer, while skipper KL Rahul contributed with run-a-ball 21 at the top. Universe Boss Chris Gayle was back in the middle but fell for 14.

“We are playing some entertaining cricket and have been doing for the last two or three years,” Rahul said at the post-match presentation. Further he said : “We wanted to get another 20-30 more runs but we’ll take the win. It gives us a belief that no matter what the situation is, our bowlers can get the opposition out if we get a decent score.”
