Like the Rajasthan Royals who were without their regular skipper in Steve Smith, Sunrisers too missed Skipper and powerful Aussie opener David Warner in last year’s IPL . In Warner’s place Kiwi national team skipper Kane Williamson took over. And lead the team superbly with his astute captaincy and his classy batting in the middle. The team almost won reached the final only to lose to CSK thanks to the brilliance of Shane Watson in the final.
The return of Warner though adds a dilemma. Who will lead the side? Williamson or Warner . Warner is coming back after a ban, Williamson filled the void superbly. So given the past year showing, Williamson deserves to lead the side . Warner could his opener role freely with devastating effect and without the pressures of captaincy. But then the franchise has to take a call on this .
Kane Williamson (captain), Basil Thampi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Hooda, Manish Pandey, T. Natarajan, Ricky Bhui, Sandeep Sharma, Siddarth Kaul, Shreevats Goswami, Khaleel Ahmed, Yusuf Pathan, Billy Stanlake, David Warner, Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Shakib Al Hasan, Jonny Bairstow, Wriddhiman Saha, Martin Guptill, Abhishek Sharma, Vijay Shankar and Shahbaz Nadeem.
The team looks a complete unit with all areas covered . Wraner, Williamson, Deepak Hooda, Sakib Al Hasan, Jonny Bairstow, Manish Pandey Martin Guptill , Wriddhiman Saha, Yusuf Pathan, Vijay Shankar is a strong line- up.
Bolwing too looks perfect with tall Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Bill Stanlake, Mohammed Nabi, th eleg spin magician Rashid Khan from Afghanistan, Sakib Al Hasan, Shabaz Nadeem, Siddharth Kaul ( His impressive performance last year saw him find a place in the Indian team). The SRH the 2016 winners have the team to go all the way.
