Tom Cruise’s ‘Top Gun 2’ A Sequel To His Cult 1986 Film Will Release In 2020

Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise starrer ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ has been pushed back nearly a year and will now release in 2020. The actor is in the news for his latest blockbuster Mission Impossible fall Out. He thanks his fans  in  a tweet

 

Cruise, who is all set to reprise the role of Maverick from his iconic 1986 film ‘Top Gun’, will reunite with Val Kilmer nearly 35 years after the original was released. The flick also stars Miles Teller and Glen Powell.

The film, which was earlier slated to hit the big screens on July 12, 2019, will now come out on June 26, 2020, reported The Hollywood Reporter.

‘Top Gun: Maverick’ will be helmed by Joseph Kosinski – who directed Cruise in the sci-fi thriller ‘Oblivion’. Jerry Bruckheimer will produce along with Cruise and Skydance CEO David Ellison.

The star tweeted a picture from the original film showing his character Maverick at an airfield, holding a helmet bearing his name.

The image also references the 1986 film’s popular catchphrase “feel the need”. The 55-year-old star simply wrote “#Day1” in the caption.
