Terrorists Target Police Bus , 2 Policemen Killed, 12 Injured In Srinagar ; Omar And Farooq Abdullah Slam Attack

In yet another dastardly terror strike, Two policemen were killed and 12 others suffered injuries as terrorists carried out a deadly attack on a bus carrying Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police personnel on the outskirts of Srinagar on Monday — the 20th anniversary of the Parliament Attack — officials said.

According to a report by PTI, The bus came under fire from terrorists in Zewan in Pantha Chowk area this evening, police officials said. They said at least 14 policemen sustained injuries in the attack. The injured were rushed to various hospitals where two of them died.

The deceased included an assistant sub-inspector of the armed police. The area has been cordoned off and a search operation launched to track down the assailants, the officials said, adding that further details are awaited.

No terrorist outfit has so far claimed responsibility for the firing on the police bus which came on the 20th anniversary of the attack on the Parliament building in the national capital by the Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist outfit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sought details on the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. He has also expressed condolences to the families of the security personnel who have been martyred in the attack, said the PMO

National Conference President and former J&K Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah while speaking to ANI said, It’s unfortunate. I condole the demise of jawans who lost their lives. I urge the Govt that if these things have to be brought to their end, then they should speak of winning hearts. If they win hearts, these things won’t happen.

Abdullah further when asked if it’s possible to hold talks with Pakistan amid terror attacks in J&K said , When you can talk to China which is advancing into our territory, which killed jawans ,Why do you not fight them? You can talk to them (China) but not them (Pak)? Why?

Reacting to the attack on Twitter , former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference Vice – president Omar Abdullah tweeted, Terrible news of a terror attack on a police bus on the outskirts of Srinagar. I unequivocally condemn this attack while at the same time send my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased & prayers for the injured.
