Lucknow Super Giants have taken big gamble by announcing wicket- keeper batsman Rishabh Pant as the new skipper replacing K L Rahul. The onus is now on Pant to deliver. Moreover the manner in which Rahul was forced to exit the franchise ( acrimonious relation with team owner Sanjeev Goenka) the pressure will be on Pant for sure.
Pant who was member of the Indian Champions Trophy 2025 team did not get a chance to play as K l Rahul was picked as India’s first choice wicket- keeper batsman by head Coach Gautam Gambhir . Hence would be keen to prove his ability as behind and ahead of the stumps with the bat .
It may be recalled , KL Rahul led LSG through their first three IPL seasons (2022-2024), taking the team to the playoffs in their first two campaigns, though they failed to reach the final in either year. The 2024 season, however, was a setback, with LSG finishing seventh on the points table.

The team besides Pant has Proteas duo of David Miller, Aiden Markram, West Indian Nicholas Pooran. Returning from injury Aussie Mitchell Marsh ( unlikely to bowl ) , Abdul Samad. A line- up that can rattle the rivals if they fire .
