Sunrisers Hyderabad are literally not giving up their play-offs hopes as they beat Mumbai Indians in thriller by 3 runs at Wankhede stadium in the 65th match of the Tata IPL 2022.
Put into bat by MI skipper Rohit Sharma, SRH lost Abhishek Sharma for ( 9) early. But the innings was back on track with Priyam Garg (42), Nicholas Pooran (38). BUt it was Rahul Tripathi who was the star with the bat scoring a blistering 44 ball 76 with 9 fours and 3 sixes . It was a superb knock . Struggling SRH skipper Kane Williamson pushed himself down the order. Thanks to Tripathi’s aggression SRH reached a competitive 193/ 6 in their 20 overs
For Mumbai Indians the wicket- takers were : Ramandeep Singh 3/ 20 ( 3 overs) Daniel Sams 1/39 (4 overs), Riley Meredith 1/ 44( 4 overs), Jasprit Bumrah 1/ 32( 4 overs)
In reply, MI got off to their best start of the season with both Skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan looked in superb touch. The duo threatened to runaway with the match with their opening stand of 95 in 10.1 overs. Rohit Looked sublime in his 36 ball 48 with 2 fours and 4 sixes. Ishan Kishan a 34 ball 43 with 3 fours and 1 six. Mumbai were on track . But they soon lost wickets Daniel Sams ( 15) , Tilak Varma ( 8) , Tristan Stubbs ( 2), Tim David tried his best with his blazing 18 ball 46 with 3 fours and 4 sixes. Suddenly the MI chase wobbled . Making the matters worse the wicket maiden 19th over bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Mumbai finishing at agonisingly at 190 / 7 in their 20 overs.
For SRH , Umran Malik was hot with his 3/ 23 ( 4 overs), Bhuvneshwar Kumar was excellent 1/ 26 ( 4 overs) , Washington Sundar 1/ 36 ( 4 overs), T Natarajan was expensive 0/ 60 ( 4 overs), Fazalhaq Farooqi 0/ 31 ( 4 overs) , Abhishek Sharma 0/ 10 ( 1 over)
The victory keeps SRH in the play-offs race on paper as they move up to 12 points from 13 games. They need to win their last game and hope for other results to go their way. Mumbai Indians on the other hand suffered their 10th defeat from 13 games in IPL 2022.
