Sanju Samson led Rajasthan boosted their play- offs chances as they beat the Punjab Kings by six wickets in the 52nd match of the Tata IPL 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium.
Mayank Agarwal Punjab Kings skipper chose to bat first . But the Kings lost seasoned Shikhar Dhawan early for ( 12). Promoted up the batting order Jonny Bairstow showed the management’s faith with a fine 40 ball 56 with eight fours and 1 six. Bhanuka Rajapaksa promised much but fell for 18 ball 27. Skipper Mayank Agarwal batting down the order and yet to get knock failed again out for ( 15). Jitesh Sharma swung his bat for 18 ball unbeaten 38 with four fours and two maximums. Liam Livingstone looked dangerous in his 14 ball 22. Rishi Dhawan was not out 5 as Punjab finished on 189/ 5 in their allotted 20 overs.

The Royals in reply were confident . Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal excelled at the top with a brilliant 41 ball 68 ( 9 fours, two sixes), Jos Buttler was in aggressive mood in his 16 ball 30 ( five fours, 1 six) . Skipper Sanju Samson scored a quick 12 ball 23. Royals were on the hunt always. Devdutt Padikkal scored almost a run a ball 31 off 32 balls. In splendid form and doing the finishing job with class this season Shimron Hetmyer was unbeaten on a blitz 16 ball 31 ( 3 fours, two sixes) and with Riyan Parag not out 1 . Hetmyer saw the Royals home with two balls to spare finishing at 190/ 4 in 19.4 overs.
