In what was the most one-sided encounter in the Tata IPl 2025 , Mumbai Indians routed defending Champions by 8 wickets in front of a full house at Wankhede , Mumbai .
Earlier, MI skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bowl first. And KKR began on a disastrous note with Trent Boult striking early to send back Sunil Narine ( 0) . Then Deepak Chahar got Quinton de Kock (1). KKR total 2/ 2 . They needed some partnership and some batting sense . But KKR batsmen threw away with some reckless batting .
KKR Skipper Ajinkya Rahane started well but fell to debutant Ashwani Kumar for ( 11) and the slide began. Rahane fell with score at 25/ 3 in 3.1 overs. Venkatesh Iyer (3) so much hype around his price tag flopped yet again and KKR were staring at 41/ 4 in 5. 4 overs. The large crowd who came anticipating tough contest were shocked by KKR batting. Angkrish Raghuvanshi 26 ( 16 balls, 3 fours, 1 six) hung on for while before he fell . KKR 45/5 in 6.6 overs. Half of KKR batting gone in power play .
KKR batsmen showed zero match sense as Rinku Singh when was needed to stay perished to needless shot at ( 17). Big – man Andre Russell too failed ( 5) , Manish Pandey coming in as impact player could score only ( 19).
Ramandeep Singh ( 22(, Harshit Rana ( 4 ), Spencer Johnson not out 1 . KKR with a dismal batting show were bowled out for 116/ 10 in 16. 2 overs.
MI Skipper Hardik Pandya was spot with his smart bowling changes and apt field placements right through. It was flawless captaincy.
KKR batting flopped but that does take away the brilliant debut by young MI seamer Ashwani Kumar who ripped through the KKR batting line- up with four wickets.

In reply , MI were in hurry with openers (impact player) Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton. With scores of 0, 8, in his earlier outing MI wanted Rohit Sharma to get back to form. But the former MI skipper Rohit disappointed the large crowd as he was out for just (13). Rohit’s form was the only concern in otherwise clinical MI show.

MI romping home by 8 wickets and 43 balls to spare reaching 121/ 2 in 12. 5 overs.
