Marcus Stoinis hit power packed unbeaten ton to lead Lucknow Super Giants to sensational six wicket win over Chennai Super Kings in a Tata IPl 2024 encounter. LSG has now twice beaten the defending champions CSK this time.
Earlier, Lucknow Super Giants Skipper KL Rahul won the toss and opted to field first. LSG bowlers initially tied down the CSK batting line- up with tight line and length . Runs were hard to come by . CSK found that early with Ajinkya Rahane out for 1 . Daryl Mitchell struggled for 10 ( 11 balls) unlike Daryl Mitchell innings . Ravindra Jadeja too found it hard and was out tamely for 16 ( 19 balls) .
But strangely CSK Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad it seemed was batting on another pitch . Ruturaj Gaikwad was all timing and placement in his superb innings an unbeaten one – a fine ton 108 ( 60 balls , 12 fours, 3 sixes).
Giving the CSK innings the power push towards the end was the tall- left- hander Shivam Dube. Dube was blistering in his power packed 66 27 balls , 3 fours , 7 sixes) before he was run-out. MSD was not out 4 . CSK after a timid start powered their way to 210/ 4 in their 20 overs.

Devdutt Padikkal struggled during his stay in the middle and was out for 13 ( 19 balls ) bowled by Matheesha Pathirana. LSG 88/ 3 in 11 overs .
Nicholas Pooran soon joined and looked set for big one but he fell for 34 ( 15 balls , 3 fours, 2 sixes). Pooran was fourth out with the total reading 158-4, 16.3 overs.
The repair of the innings was done single – handedly by big Aussie Marcus Stoinis who struck his first IPL ton and played sensational match- winning innings of 124 ( 63 balls , 11 fours, 6 sixes) . Stoinis remained unbeaten and hit the winning four to silence the Chennai crowd. It was phenomenal power innings by Stoinis under pressure . He has power arms shoulders and he showed that today in full flow . And the sheer joy on Stoinis face said it all .
Deepak Hooda too remained not out with timely 7 ball 17 . LSG reaching 213/ 4 in 19. 3 overs. They needed 17 off the last over . But Stoinis finished off in style .
