Lucknow Super Giants came out with a superb- all- round performance to beat defending Champions Chennai Super Kings by 8 wickets in a Tata IPL 2024 encounter in Lucknow .
Earlier Lucknow Super Giants Skipper K L Rahul won the toss and opted to field against Chennai Super Kings . CSK were off to a dismal start as they lost Rachin Ravindra early for 0. Ajinkya Rahane looked good for his 36 ( 24 balls , 5 fours . 1 six) but he did not go big. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad out for ( 17), Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten with a superb 57 ( 40 balls, 5 fours, 1 six).
Big-hitter Shivam Dube dismissed cheaply for 3 . Sameer Rizvi ( 1). Moeen Ali chipped in with a quick cameo 30 ( 20 balls 3 sixes) . greeted by thunderous applause , Mahendra Singh Dhoni delighted the crowd yet again with his blazing unbeaten 28 ( 9 balls , 3 fours 2 sixes) as CSK finished at 176/ 6 in their 20 overs .

In the chase , LSG were in complete control with a fine batting display . Skipper K L Rahul and opener Quinton de Kock gave them a superb century run opening stand to put them on top . The duo put on 134-1, 15 overs . Quinton de Kock after a fine innings fell for 54 ( 43 balls , 6 fours, 1 six) .
KL Rahul finally came out with a big innings at the top and was out but not before he ha d scored a match- winning innings of 82 ( 53 balls , 8 fours, 3 sixes) .
Nicholas Pooran not out 23 ( 12 balls, 3 fours, 1 six) and Marcus Stoinis not out 8 ( 7 balls , 1 four) saw LSG home to a comfortable win by 8 wickets. LSG reaching 180/ 2 in 19 overs. It was commanding show by LSG and gets them two vital points.
