At home in Hyderabad, the Sunrisers Hyderabad raised their game and beat Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets in a Tata IPL 2024 encounter. SRH scored a much needed win after two losses. This was a clinical performance.
SRH Skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and on wicket on slightly lower side, asked Chennai Super Kings to bat first . SRH bowlers from the start kept things quiet. Putting pressure on CSK batsmen to take risks . The tight line and length paid dividends .Rachin Ravindra fell for ( 12) trying to up the run rate. CSK Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was out for 26 . Ajinkya Rahane showed aggressive intent and scored a quick 35 ( 30 balls, 2 fours, 1 six).
Left- hander Shivam Dube gave the CSK innings the power lift with blazing 45 ( 24 balls, 2 fours, 4 sixes) befor he fell to a cracking delivery from Cummins , who yet again bowled an excellent spell . Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on 31 ( 23 balls , 4 fours) . Kiwi Daryl Mitchell fell cheaply for 1 . Mahendra Singh Dhoni was not out 1. SRH Bowlers had done well to restrict the powerful CSK batting line- up to a modest 165/ 5 in 20 overs

In reply , SRH got off to a blistering start with Abhishek Sharma blasting his way to 12 ball 37 ( 3 fours , 4 sixes) . In the power play SRH went all guns blazing racing to 46-1, 2.4 overs . Fellow opener Travis Head started slowly but later on accelerated to score 31 ( 24 balls , 3 fours, 1 six).
South African Aiden Markram played well for his 50 ( 36 balls , 4 fours , 1 six). Aiden Markram fell playing an uncharacteristic reverse sweep when not needed at all at that stage . Shahbaz Ahmed too feel to the reverse sweep for 18.
The onus now lay on Heinrich Klaasen ( 10) and Nitish Reddy ( 14) who both remained not out and saw SRH home to a good win by six wicket . SRH reaching 166/ 4 in 18. 1 overs. Reddy hit the winning six Off Deepak Chahar.
