India came out with yet another commanding show as they beat Bangladesh comfortably by 50 runs in a T20 World Cup Super 8 Group 1 match in Antigua.
Earlier Bangladesh Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and opted to bowl first. India began in aggressive fashion with Skipper Rohit Sharma leading the way with 23 ( 11 balls, 3 fours, 1 six) . But Rohit once again fell when one thought he would go to score a big one . Virat Kohli scored 37 ( 28 balls , 1 four, 3 sixes). Rishabh Pant 36 ( 24 balls , 4fours, 2 sixes). Suryakumar Yadav fell cheaply for 2 . Shivam Dube scored an important and watchful 34 .
But the innings momentum was given by all- rounder and vice- captain Hardik Pandya who was belligerent in match – winning unbeaten innings of 50 ( 27 balls , 4 fours, 3 sixes) . Axar Patel was not out 3 . As India posted an impressive 196/ 5 in their 20 overs .
Bangladesh bowlers faltered towards the end after a promising start . Mahedi Hasan 0/ 28 ( 4 overs), Shakib Al Hasan 1/ 37 ( 3 overs) , Tanzim Hasan Sakib 2/ 32 ( 4 overs), Mustafizur Rahman 0/ 48 ( 4 overs) , Rishad Hossain 2/ 43 ( 3 overs) , Mahmudullah 0/8 ( 2 overs)
In reply , Bangladesh lost wickets regularly right form the start and it dented their chase . Litton Das fell for13 with total at 35- 1 in 4. 3 overs. The big knock never came after some starts – Tanzid Hasan ( 29) , Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto ( 40) . Other flopped – Towhid Hridoy ( 4) , Shakib Al Hasan ( 11), Mahmudullah ( 13) , Jaker Ali ( 1), Rishad Hossain threw his bat around for a quick 24 . Mahedi Hasan not out 5 and Tanzim Hasan Sakib not out 1 were at the end as Bangladesh could manage 146/ 8 in their 20 overs.
Indian bowling was spot on backed by sharp fielding . Arshdeep Singh 2/ 30 ( 4 overs), Jasprit Bumrah 2/ 13 ( 4 overs) a superb spell. Axar Patel 0/ 26 ( 2 overs) , Hardik Pandya 1/ 32 ( 3 overs) , Ravindra Jadeja 0/ 24 ( 3 overs) , Kuldeep Yadav was brilliant with excellent figures 3/ 19 ( 4 overs)
