In what is seen as the sharpest attack on Congress Vice – president Rahul Gandhi, the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley slammed the latter for questioning India’s improved ‘ease of doing business’ ranking released by the World Bank.
In an exclusive interview to a television channel, Jaitley said that it is not the World Bank ranking which is fixed but, the process of elevation of Rahul Gandhi as All India Congress Committee (AICC) president is.
Speaking to Times Now, Jaitley said, “There is only one thing in this country that is fixed — the election of the AICC president as everybody knows the result even before the election.”
The leader even lashed out at Gandhi for raising the failure of ‘Startup India’ and ‘Standup India’. The minister explains that a startup is an idea of an adventurist who goes on a new track to create something new. Adding more, he pitched for the need to encourage the startups and asserted that he does not subscribes to the kind of cynism Rahul Gandhi represents.
Asked whether he thinks that the Congress has begun the campaign for the Gujarat Assembly elections 2017 on an advantageous note, Jaitley says, “In Gujarat, the Congress has been directionless since 2002. This time the Congress has only one strategy and that is – caste, caste, caste.” Questioned about how many seats the BJP will get in the crucial Assembly polls, he said, “I am not getting into numbers, but we will win very comfortably.”
