Prime Minister Narendra Modi has all along come out hard against corruption and scams in all his rallies. But his words are not reflected on the ground when it comes to those joining the party .
As the BJP attempts to turn the heat on West Bengal Chief Mamata Banerjee over the Saradha chit fund scam it should be pertinent to know that further investigation might end up embarrassing BJP itself.
So just guess whom BJP had roped into get more seats in West Bengal ? An accused in the Saradha and Narada sting tapes Mukul Roy. A former TMC leader.
Roy was reportedly questioned by the CBI in the chit fund case and an FIR has been lodged against him as he features prominently in the Narada sting tapes . He had held talks with the BJP since 2015 but joined in November 3 , 2017. The SC had directed the scam prone in 2014. So Roy joined BJP when it was on in the presence of Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad .
.
If Roy was probed in the Saradha chit fund case, then the BJP’s ‘master strategist’ and the main trouble shooter in the North-Eeast, Assam Deputy Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is no clean either. Like Roy Sarma too joined the BJP when the probe was going on in August 2015. Sarma is now ” Kingmaker” for BJP in North – East
It is reported that in connection with alleged payoffs, he was summoned by the agency, his home was raided, but he was not named in any charge-sheet. The Indian Express, in its report said , CBI questioned Sarma on November 26, 2014. And two months earlier, the agency had raided his house and a news channel owned by his wife in Guwahati. He was accused of receiving Rs 20 lakh per month from Saradha’s chairman Sen for helping him run his business in Assam.
Hence, It is clear beyond doubt that CBI went soft on Roy and Sarma in the Saradha scam after the joined the BJP.
