The 20 year -old Greece Stefanos Tsitsipas had the caught the imagination of the tennis fraternity when he beat 20 time Grand Slam winner and Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer at the Australian Open 2019 in the fourth round winning a four set thriller .
But for the Greek sensation the joy was short-lived. Up against Spanish superstar Rafael Nadal, the young player was simply outclassed in all departments of the game in the semi- finals at the Melbourne park .
He was left clueless as Rafa pounded winners from the back, unleashed power forehands and cross court winners to romp home to a convincing 6-2 . 6-4, 6-0 victory and reach the finals for the fifth time. A win here will be his 18th Grand Slam singles title. Two behind arch- rival Roger Federer’s tally of 20.
It took the Spanish superstar one hour and 46 minute to hand the youngster a lesson in power tennis.
The sheer domination by Nadal left Tsitsipas shell- shocked . While commenting post match the Greek star reportedly said : ” I have no idea what I can take from that match, I wasn’t even close to getting something. I only got six games.
