Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi along with two Chief Ministers- Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel and Punjab CM Charanjit Channi will be leading a 5-member delegation to Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh today.
Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the party office in a media briefing, Rahul said, Unlike the Prime Minister who has the unique distinction of not holding a single press conference since he assumed office in 2014, Gandhi has held several pressers over the years.
“Farmers are being mowed down by a jeep, they’re being murdered, the name of a union minister and his son is coming up in this incident (Lakhimpur Kheri). Yesterday, PM visited Lucknow, but he didn’t visit Lakhimpur Kheri. It’s a systematic attack on farmers.
“Today, with two CMs we will visit Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh to understand the situation there and support the farmers’ families. Yes, Priyanka has been put under detention (in Sitapur) but this is a matter relating to the farmers.
“It is your (media) responsibility to raise this issue, but when we ask questions, raise the issue, then, you (media) say that we are doing politics.
