The Congress party has reacted strongly to the developments in Karnataka where its government in alliance with the JD(S) lost the trust vote. The 14 month old government fell with the resignation of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.
Taking to twitter Congress leaders squarely blamed the BJP for the mess in Karnataka .
Former party president Rahul Gandhi tweeted ,
From its first day, the Cong-JDS alliance in Karnataka was a target for vested interests, both within & outside, who saw the alliance as a threat & an obstacle in their path to power.
Their greed won today.
Democracy, honesty & the people of Karnataka lost.

Shashi Tharoor, Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram
So the party that banned cattle auctions has successfully conducted one in Karnataka! My admiration for the courage & principle shown by D.K.Shivakumar & those @INCIndia MLAs who were neither cajoled nor cudgelled into changing their allegiance. We shall overcome one day. https://t.co/L5bp0kAEPt

One day the BJP will discover that everything cannot be bought, everyone cannot be bullied and every lie is eventually exposed.

Until then I suppose, the citizens of our country will have to endure their unbridled corruption, the systematic dismantling of insitutions that protect the people’s interests and the weakening of a democracy that took decades of toil and sacrifice to build.

Ashok Gehlot, Rajasthan Chief Minister
Congress-JDS govt in #Karnataka fell because of nefarious designs and power grabbing tactics of BJP. It’s a dark day for democracy. People of this country gave a huge mandate to NDA and nobody expected they would engage in horse trading & destabilize govts on basis of money power pic.twitter.com/yiW2HY5cMN
