The ruling BJP and the Congress are involved in a slug- fest over the Rafale fighter deal over its pricing. But the contentious fighter jet has now got the backing of the Air Force chief B S Dhanoa.
Speaking at a seminar on ‘IAF’s force structure, 2035’, the air chief said the government is procuring Rafale fighter jets and S-400 missile systems to enhance IAF’s capability.
He also justified procurement of only two Rafale jet squadrons, saying there were example of similar purchases.
Dhanoa also drove home point that the need of the hour is to enhance our military preparedness as no country is confronted with grave threat like India. The adversaries intentions cannot be read all time they keep changing. And the Air Force needs to match their force level . Neighbouring countries too are upgrading their Air Force and countries like China are modernising their Air Force in a major way to deal with the changing environment.
