Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi has hit out the Modi government over the Pegasus row saying the Israeli software was used to attack the institutions of the country by the BJP.
Earlier, Congress , Shiv Sena, DMK MP’s stood in protest under Mahatma Gandhi statue inside Parliament premises. Addressing the media , outside parliament, Gandhi took a dig at the government saying : “Pegasus is classified as weapon by Israel which is supposed to be used on terrorist. This government has used it everywhere. It is treason and HM Amit Shah should resign.
Elaborating further, Gandhi said , Pegasus is classified by the Israeli state as a weapon and that weapon is supposed to be used against terrorists. The Prime Minister and Home Minister have used this against the Indian state and against our institutions. They have used it politically, they’ve used it in Karnataka, they’ve used it to scuttle probes, they’ve used it against Supreme Court, they have used it against all the institutions of this country. The only word for this is treason. There is no other word for this.
Gandhi further alleged, My phone was tapped. It’s not a matter of Rahul Gandhi’s privacy. I’m an Oppn leader, I raise the voices of people. This is an attack on voices of the people. Home Minister should resign & there should be a Supreme Court inquiry against Narendra Modi.
Meanwhile amidst strong opposition protests, Lok Sabha has been adjourned till Monday, 26th July over ‘Pegasus Project’ media report and other issues.
