#PahalgamTerrorAttack : With Prime Minister Narendra Modi At A Bihar Rally, Rajnath Singh Chairs All Party Meeting ; Centre Admits Security Lapse ; Opposition Assures Full Support

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired the all- party meeting called by the Centre in wake of the dastardly killing of 26 tourists in Pahalgam. The opposition parties who attended the meeting assured the government of full support in the fight against terrorism.

Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, BJP President JP Nadda, Tiruchi Siva of DMK, NCP leader Praful Patel, Supriya Sule of NCP-SP, Ram Gopal Yadav of SP, Sanjay Singh of Aam Aadmi Party, Prem Chand Gupta of RJD, P. V. Midhun Reddy of YSRCP, Sudip Bandyopadhyay of TMC were among those who attended the all-party meeting.

Talking to the media, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju : “Everyone has agreed that India should fight against terrorism unitedly. India has taken strong action against terrorism in the past and will continue to do so. This has been discussed in the all-party meeting on behalf of the government. The (government) officials, IB and Home Ministry officials did briefing on how the attack happened and where was the security lapse. The incident occurred in a meadow which is not close to the road…The parties were informed that there was a lapse,” Rijiju said.

The Minister said that during the meeting, officials of the Intelligence Bureau and the Home Ministry briefed members about the incident and the lapse. Rijiju said that the officials also explained the management measures being taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

Talking to the media after attending the meeting, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said everyone condemned the Pahalgam terror attack, and the opposition has given full support to the government to take any action.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that all parties condemned the terror attack. He said that efforts should be made to maintain peace in Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier, Congress said that expects Prime Minister Narendra Modi to chair the all-party meeting scheduled on the Pahalgam terror attack, and take all political parties into confidence as well as build a collective resolve.

Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh said that on the night of April 22nd itself his party had asked for an all-party meeting to discuss the fallout of the brutal Pahalgam terror attack and the targeted killings of so many tourists.

TMC was critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decsion to skip the all- party meeting and address a rally in Bihar instead. Sagarika Ghose , TMC Rajya Sabha MP wrote on X
