Omar tweeted , His death must not be used as an excuse by some to put more people in harms way by provoking violence & protests
#RiyazNaikoo’s destiny was decided the moment he picked up the gun & adopted the path of violence & terror. His death must not be used as an excuse by some to put more people in harms way by provoking violence & protests.

Seen as a successor to Burhan Wani as poster boy of terror. Naikoo was on the run for eight years . And as many as three times he escaped from the grasp of the security forces. His killing is seen as a revenge by the security forces for the Handwara attack where army colonel, a major and two soldiers, along with a Jammu and Kashmir Police sub-inspector, were killed in a counter-terrorist operation in Kashmir.
