The nation remembered former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 29th death anniversary. It was on this day May 21, 1991, during the General Elections of 1991, campaign that Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by a LTTE suicide bomber at Sriperumbudur 40 kilometres from then Madras where he was going to address an election rally at 10: 20 pm.
