In a tragic road accident at least 11 persons were killed and 38 others injured as a private bus travelling to Mumbai caught fire after hitting a trailer truck in Nashik city of Maharashtra early on Saturday, officials said.
The accident took place at Nandur Naka on Nashik-Aurangabad highway around 5.15 am when the ‘sleeper’ bus was coming from Yavatmal in eastern Maharashtra, they said.
Speaking to ANI, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said , I’ve visited the accident site & also met the injured. 12 people died. Rs 5 lakh to next of kin of deceased. Seriously injured will be given Rs 2 lakh. Instructions have been given to officials to identify spots in Nashik where accidents occur frequently and take action.
Soon after hearing about the incident CM Shinde told ANI, The incident in Nashik is unfortunate, 11 people died while many were injured. Our priority is to provide treatment to the injured. Govt will bear their treatment expenses in hospital. Rs 5 lakh given to the next of kin of the deceased.
