Into his third term as Prime Minister Narendra Modi  led NDA  appears to be firmly in the saddle  in 2025 as  the opposition INDIA alliance  struggles hard to stay together . Adding to the woes of the oppostion is the  repeated electoral  set-back suffered by the GOP of Indian politics the  Congress . In election after election the party has been unable to learn from it’s mistakes and along with it  pulling down it’s allies as well in states . This has  made the allies wary of the  party for future alliances .

Rahul Gandhi’s  Voter Adhikar Yatra,  travelled 1,300 kilometres across 25 districts of Bihar to highlight ‘vote chori’ and alleged flaws in the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. But the yatra failed to lift the party as it bagged a humiliating 6 seats in the polls.  The losses in Bihar, and before that in Maharashtra, Haryana , Delhi  have left them bruised and putting question mark on their ledership, organisation and the party cadre whose morale is now at the lowest ebb . All the three need a  magic potion to bounce back.

If the Congress had it’s worries a aplenty, the Modi government would face acid test too . abrogated article 370  from Jammu and kashmir and making it a Union Territory, the government was jolted by the  dastardly Pahalgam terror strike that killed 26 tourists. The attack brough to the fore the  shocking intelligence  failure, the inept handling of Home ministry ( LG of J&K  is in charge of security ) not the  elected Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The LG even admitted the security lapse but Home Minister Amit Shah remained mum .  Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised statehood to  Jammu And Kashmir when it went to the assembly polls . The promise is yet to be delivered . The matter is now awiting SC nod . Where is the Modi guarantee? political pundits would ask.

India hit back had with Operation Sindoor on Pakistan  and it was US President Donald Trump who announced the  sensational ceasefire that brought India – Pak  war to a halt. President Trump repeatedly stated that he used Trade/ Tariffs  threat to bring about a  ceasefire between the two nations but India  was adamant saying their  was not third party intervention. Post Operation Sindoor India  in rare political bonhonmie decided to send  an all- party delegations to several countries to isolate Paksitan and highlight their brazen support to terror groups.  Senior Congress Leader and Chairman of Parliamentary standing committee on External Affairs Shashi Tharoor, DMK MP Kanimozhi, NCP (SP)  MP Supriya Sule, Shiv Sena (UBT)  MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad were among the several MP’s cutting across  party lines were a part of the multiple delegations. One expected sanity with the all- party delegations in political exchanges post thes evisits but that simply did not happen.

Terror would once again strike this time at the Capital with BJP government  of  Rekha Gupta at the helm . The Red fort blasts took 15 lives . The inept security with Double engine  government  Centre and state stood exposed.  The Centre and BJP government at Delhi would face the music on Delhi Air pollution and the worsening AQI too post Diwali. That BJP started blaming AAP for the situation has failed to convince the people .

The state of Manipur too is in search for government after the exit of N Biren Singh following the ethnic clashes between the Kuki and Meitei groups. Currently under President’s Rule the ravaged state seeks a government for  peace and stability.  Maharashtra too has seen change in political equations . It saw the reunion of  Raj Thackeray (MNS) And Uddhav Thackeray ( Shiv Sena UBT)  .  Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis appears to be command but  the land deal issuue involving son of  Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Parth Pawar has left him embarrassed and BJP’s big talk of zero tolerance towards corruption exposed .  The slogan  “Na Khaunga, Na Khane Dunga becoming a butt of jokes and memes on social media . As Fadnavis feels the heat ,termed Switch master for his numerous political alliances 74- year Old Nitish Kumar , JD(U) leader scripted history as he took oath as Chief Minister of Bihar for the record 10th time . In a election many  thought was his last battle. But he lives to play his final innings given his age  now.

The poltical discourse took a severe beating with government and the opposition going at each other with full venom on host of issues .  The government at every opportunity no matter which topic was the debate put on their thinking caps on and brought to the fore the  letters, speeches of country’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and blamed him for all the ills of the country and how the current dispensation  read Modi government is taking India forward with it goal of  developed nation by 2047.  The angst on Nehru saw a fierce counter from Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who impressed all with speech and her perfect pointed facts and tellingly told with no anger but a smile on her face  .

Priyanka took on the Modi government head on and said “… Whatever complaints you have against (Jawaharlal) Nehru, whatever mistakes you think he made… if you want to hurl abuses, if you want to insult as much as you like, please make a list of that too… 999 insults, 9,999 insults… make a list, and then we will fix a time. “Just like we debated for 10 hours today on Vande Mataram, in the same way, we will ask the Speaker, we will fix a time 10 hours, 20 hours, 40 hours, however many hours it takes for your complaint to be fully addressed,” she reportedly said. “Let’s close the chapter for once and all. After that, let’s talk about today’s issues – price rise and unemployment,” she added. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has arrived truly as a politician and has has made her makrk as an articulate MP .

The country had several reasons to cheer – The 41 year wait finally ended as it saw Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla making a historic space voyage in 2025 . the first to do so was Rakesh Sharma in 1984 . India became the world’s fourth-largest economy in 2025, surpassing Japan, according to recent data and projections from sources like the IMF and NITI Aayog. Driven by strong growth, reforms, and rising consumption, India is now behind only the U.S., China, and Germany, and is expected to become the third-largest by 2027-2028.

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is one of the primary indicators of overall economic performance which reflects the rate at which the country is expanding. As per the latest data, the real GDP of India, adjusted for inflation, is estimated to grow by 8.2% in Q2of FY 2025-26 against the growth rate of 5.6% during Q2 of FY 2024-25. The GDP in Q1 of FY 2025-26 grew at 7.8% against the growth rate of 6.5% during Q1 of FY 2024-25.

In a historic Christmas Eve mission, ISRO’s heaviest rocket, LVM3-M6, successfully placed a US communication satellite into orbit. The Bengaluru-headquartered space agency said the LVM3-M6 has successfully placed the BlueBird Block-2 satellite into its intended orbit. The Bluebird Block-2 mission is part of a global LEO (Low Earth Orbit) constellation to provide direct-to-mobile connectivity through satellite. This constellation would enable 4G and 5G voice and video calls, texts, streaming and data for everyone, everywhere at all times. LVM3-M6, also known as ‘Bahubali’, carried the communication satellite as part of a commercial deal between NewSpace India Ltd (NSIL) and US-based AST SpaceMobile (AST and Science, LLC). The year 2025 at the end was  somewhat   Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham .
