A very peeved Bharatiya Janata Party expressed disagreement with its MP Kangana Ranaut’s controversial remarks on the farmers’ protest and said she has been directed to not make such remarks in future.

This came after Ranaut stoked a controversy by suggesting that the farmers’ protests could have led to a Bangladesh-like situation in the country if the top leadership was not strong enough.

In a video shared by the Mandi MP on X, she alleged that “bodies were hanging and rapes were taking place” during the farmers’ protest against the now-repealed three farm laws.

“The statement made by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut in the context of the farmers’ movement is not the opinion of the party. The Bharatiya Janata Party expresses its disagreement with the statement made by Kangana Ranaut,” the BJP said in a statement.

On behalf of the BJP, Ranaut is neither permitted nor authorised to make statements on the party’s policy issues, it said.

“On behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Kangana Ranaut has been directed not to make any such statements in future,” the statement said.

“The Bharatiya Janata Party is committed to follow the principles of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas’ and social harmony,” it added.

This is not the first time Kangana has sparked controversy with her comments , She had even compared Mumbai to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) .

In a incident in Chandigarh airport, the Mandi MP Kangana due to her comments on farmer’s protest  was slapped by a Central Industrial Security Force constable in Chandigarh airport, allegedly over “disrespecting farmers”.

The CISF constable said she was upset with Ms Ranaut over the actor-turned-MP’s “Rs 100” statement during the farmers’ protest. “She had given a statement that the farmers are sitting there for ₹ 100. Will she go and sit there? My mother was sitting there and protesting when she gave this statement,” the constable said.

Ms Ranaut in December 2020 had posted the “Rs 100” comment on X, after seeing an elderly woman who she said was “available for ₹ 100”, suggesting she can be hired to attend protests.

Congress leader Kunwar Danish Ali told ANI , “If BJP does not agree with her statement as the kind of statement Kanagana Ranaut has made, BJP should not only apologise but should remove her from the party if the BJP’s leadership has any shame left…”

Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi posed a query on X on Kangana action
