Taking a serious note of the tragedy the Kerala government on Monday ordered a judicial probe into the incident where a houseboat with tourists capsized in the Malappuram district killing 22 people.
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) stated that an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh will be given to the kin of victims and the state government will bear the expenses for the treatment of the injured, reported ANI . The statement added that a police team will also investigate the matter.

As per PTI report, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced the probe and the compensation after an all-party meeting held at Tanur in which senior opposition leaders also participated.
So far, we have recovered 21 dead bodies. We don’t know the exact number of people on the boat, so we are continuing the search to find out whether there are more victims trapped in the mud or not: Shiju KK, Regional Fire Range Officer told ANI
