The Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated in New Delhi on this day in 1948 by Nathuram Godse
President Ram Nath Kovind was the first to pay tributes followed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Interim Congress president Sonia Gandhi, and former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh too paid their tributes by visiting Rajghat.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP patriarch L K Advani were also there to pay their tributes.
