After filing his nomination from Wayanad , Kerala, Congress president Rahul Gandhi filed his nomination From Amethi.
He was accompanied by former Congress president and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, General Secretary in charge of Uttar Pradesh East and brother- in law Robert Vadra.
Rahul embarked on a roadshow just ahead of filing the nomination papers, again accompanied by Priyanka and Robert and their two children.
The three-term MP will take on Union minister and BJP candidate Smriti Irani in the Lok Sabha election in a virtually direct contest as the SP-BSP-RLD alliance has decided not to put up any candidate here.
The first phase of the Lok Sabha polls begins on April 11. Uttar Pradesh along with Bihar and West Bengal are the only three states which will vote on all the seven phases.
